Section 1.4: The Terminal Display

Upon initiation of a connection, TouchTerm launches the Terminal display window. This is the main window where all contents of the SSH session are displayed.

The Terminal Display
The Terminal Display

By default, the Terminal display window is fairly sparse: the only visible interface elements are the Settings button and the Action Reference help button.

Note that while the Terminal display is visible, you can physically rotate your device in order to convert the display to landscape mode, in order to have a wider area to view long lines of text.

Once you are logged in to your server, simply tap anywhere on the Terminal display to bring up the Keyboard. At this point, you may start typing commands into your SSH session.

Note that by default, the Terminal display is "locked" in place, in order to allow the TouchTerm Pro Gesture Engine to recognize Swipe gestures. If you wish to use your finger to scroll around the contents of the Terminal display, simply perform a Tap gesture on the Top Edge. This toggles the Lock Scrolling option, which allows swipes to control the position of the Terminal display. To switch back to perform Swipe gestures again, tap the Top Edge again to re-enable the Lock Scrolling option.

At this point, you can now use the keyboard to interact with your SSH terminal session. To take advantage of the more powerful features of TouchTerm Pro, some familiarity with the Gestures supported by TT Pro is required; the next section introduces the Gesture Engine and the Gesture Practice profile, which can be used to quickly acclimate to TouchTerm Pro's gesture support.

For more information on using some of the more powerful features of TouchTerm Pro, you may advance to the Using the Default Profile section, which introduces the Gestures and Actions that are configured with the Default Profile.
